Vedic Maths is an ancient system of mathematics that originated in India. It gives simple and efficient techniques for addition and subtraction. Let’s explore these methods in Vedic maths addition and subtraction pdf notes:
- Addition:
The Vedic Maths method of addition is called “Vertically and Crosswise. How it works?
Step 1: Write the numbers you want to add vertically, one below the other.
Step 2: Start adding the digits in the same column from right to left. If the sum is a single-digit number, write it down. If it’s a two-digit number, write down the rightmost digit and carry over the leftmost digit to the next column.
Step 3: Multiply the digits diagonally, starting from the rightmost column and moving diagonally to the left. Add up these crosswise products.
Step 4: Add the crosswise sum from Step 3 to the vertically added sum from Step 2. This gives you the final result of the addition.
Using this method, you can add numbers quickly and mentally, without the need for a calculator.
- Subtraction:
Vedic Maths simplifies subtraction with the “All from 9 and the Last from 10” technique:
Step 1: Write down the number from which you want to subtract.
Step 2: Subtract each digit from 9, except for the last digit. For the last digit, subtract it from 10.
This technique eliminates the need for borrowing and carrying, making subtraction easier to perform mentally.
Step 3: Write down the results of each subtraction to obtain the final answer.
